Tab "Languages and Timezones"#

The "Languages and Timezones" tab is responsible for the language and time settings of the Afina browser environment. Here you can set the time zone, configure the browser interface language, select languages to be sent to websites by the browser, and set the order of languages in the priority list.

Location: The "Languages and Timezones" tab is available on the "Settings" page, accessed through the gear icon in the top right corner of the application — select "Afina Core Settings".

Available actions:

  • automatically determine the time zone by IP or choose it manually
  • configure the browser interface language
  • select languages to be sent to websites
  • search for specific values in dropdown lists
  • change the order of languages in the "Language Priority" block
  • save the changes made

Checkbox "Timezone from IP"#

The "Timezone from IP" checkbox determines whether Afina will automatically set the time zone based on the current IP. When the checkbox is enabled, the "Time zone" field remains inactive, and the value is determined automatically.

If the checkbox is disabled, the "Time zone" list becomes available for manual selection. An info icon with an explanation is placed next to the parameter name: "Sets the time zone for correct display of local time."

Automatic time zone detection helps synchronize browser time parameters with the IP address used in the profile.

List "Time zone"#

The "Time zone" list is used for manual selection of the time zone if the "Timezone from IP" checkbox is disabled. After opening the list, a "Search..." field is available to quickly find the desired time zone.

After selecting a value, it is displayed in the "Time zone" field. Changes take effect after saving the settings.

Segment "Interface language"#

The "Interface language" segment determines how Afina sets the browser interface language. The modes "From language", "Real", and "Custom" are available on the tab.

Depending on the selected mode, Afina either sets the language automatically or allows manual setting through the "Browser interface language" list. An info icon with an explanation is placed next to the parameter name: "Sets the language in which the browser interface will be displayed."

List "Browser interface language"#

The "Browser interface language" list specifies or displays the language in which the browser interface will be shown: menus, system messages, dialogs, and tooltips.

If manual configuration is available, open the list, use the "Search..." field, and select the desired language. After selecting a value, it is displayed in the "Browser interface language" field and takes effect after saving changes.

Checkbox "Languages from IP"#

The "Languages from IP" checkbox determines whether the list of languages sent by the browser to sites will be automatically generated based on IP. If the checkbox is enabled, manual editing of the language list is not used.

If the checkbox is disabled, the language list becomes available for manual configuration. An info icon with an explanation is placed next to the parameter: "List of languages that the browser sends to sites. Affects content language, keyboard layout, and geolocation."

The "Languages from IP" parameter affects the language signals that sites receive from the browser when opening pages.

List "Languages that help websites determine your interface"#

The "Languages that help websites determine your interface" list is used to select languages that the browser sends to sites. After opening the list, the "Search..." field, "Select all" option, scrolling, and checkboxes for individual languages are available.

In this list, you can keep necessary languages, remove unnecessary ones, or add new ones through search. After changing the selection, the updated set of languages is displayed in the field above the list.

Panel "Language Priority"#

The "Language Priority" panel manages the order of languages sent by the browser to sites. Languages are displayed as individual rows with codes, such as "EN", "RU", or "UK", and a drag handle on the left.

To change the order, drag the desired language to another position. Sites will first attempt to display content in the language with the highest priority, and if it's unavailable, they will use the next available language from the list.

In the "Language Priority" block, the first language in the list has the highest priority. If a site does not support this language, it may use the next available language from the list.

Button "Save changes"#

The "Save changes" button applies all changes made on the "Languages and Timezones" tab. After clicking, Afina saves the selected time zone parameters, browser interface language, site languages, and language priority.

After successful saving, a green Popup message confirming the settings update will appear.
