“Security” Tab#
The “Security” tab is a section of the “Settings” page that centralizes parameters for auto-lock, full encryption, extension integrity checking, and local profile backup. The tab allows you to enhance the protection of work data and configure rules for creating local profile archives.
Location: the “Security” tab is available on the “Settings” page, which opens via the gear icon in the top right corner of the application — the “Afina Core Settings” item.
Available actions:
- enable or disable “Auto-lock”
- set the time until the application automatically locks
- enable or disable “Full encryption”
- enable or disable “Check extension integrity”
- set the maximum number of local profile archives per day
- set the retention period for local backups
- set the minimum interval between creating archives
Switch “Auto-lock”#
Switch “Auto-lock” enables or disables automatic locking of the Afina application after a period of inactivity. If the switch is active, the “Auto-lock after (minutes)” field appears below, where the waiting time before locking is configured.
The parameter is used for additional protection of the work environment if the device is left unattended or the application is not used for some time.
After “Auto-lock” is triggered, the master password is required to return to work.
Field “Auto-lock after (minutes)”#
Field “Auto-lock after (minutes)” sets the number of inactive minutes after which Afina automatically locks. The field is displayed only when the “Auto-lock” switch is enabled.
Enter a numerical value in the field. The lower the value, the faster the application locks after the user’s last action.
Switch “Full encryption”#
Switch “Full encryption” enables a mode in which all profile data is encrypted every time the profile is opened and closed. This strengthens local data protection, but makes the keys critically important for further access and may increase the PC load due to constant file encryption and decryption.
If the keys are lost, encrypted data cannot be restored.
Before enabling “Full encryption”, make sure the key file and master password are stored in a secure location. If the keys are lost, profile data recovery will be impossible.
Switch “Check extension integrity”#
Switch “Check extension integrity” enables checking extension files before each browser launch. The parameter helps control whether extension files were changed or damaged before the profile is launched.
If the switch is active, Afina checks extension integrity before starting the browser environment.
Extension integrity checking is performed before the browser starts and helps detect changes in extension files before the profile begins working.
Block “Local backup”#
Block “Local backup” groups parameters that define the rules for creating and storing local profile archives. This block configures the number of archives per day, their retention period, and the minimum interval between creating backups.
These parameters help control backup frequency and the amount of local storage occupied by backup copies.
The parameters of the “Local backup” block affect only local profile archives and do not replace cloud backup.
Field “Max archives per day”#
Field “Max archives per day” determines the maximum number of profile archives that can be created locally during one day. The parameter prevents excessive accumulation of backups and helps control disk space usage.
Enter a numerical value in the field. After saving, Afina will not create more local archives per day than allowed by this parameter.
Field “Max days to keep backups”#
Field “Max days to keep backups” sets how many days local profile archives are stored before deletion. The parameter determines the depth of the backup history and helps limit the accumulation of old archives.
Enter a numerical value in the field. Archives whose retention period exceeds the specified value may be deleted automatically.
Field “Minimum interval between backups (hours)”#
Field “Minimum interval between backups (hours)” sets the minimum number of hours that must pass between creating local profile archives. The parameter limits backup creation frequency even when profiles are actively changing.
Enter a numerical value in the field. The higher the value, the less often Afina creates new local archives.
Workflow Scenario#
Step 1: Open settings
Click the gear icon in the top right corner of the application and select “Afina Core Settings”.
Step 2: Go to the “Security” tab
In the “Settings” window, open the “Security” tab.
Step 3: Configure protection parameters
If needed, enable “Auto-lock”, “Full encryption”, or “Check extension integrity”. If auto-lock is used, set the time in the “Auto-lock after (minutes)” field.
Step 4: Configure local backups
In the “Local backup” block, fill in the “Max archives per day”, “Max days to keep backups”, and “Minimum interval between backups (hours)” fields.
Step 5: Save changes
Click “Save changes” to apply the updated security parameters.
