Tab “Path for profiles”#
The “Path for profiles” tab is a section in Afina settings where the disk folder for storing browser profile data is defined. It allows selecting a custom directory through a system dialog or reverting the path to the default value.
Location: access to the tab is available through the “Afina Core Settings” window, tab “Path for profiles”.
Available actions:
- view and change the current path to the profiles folder
- reset the path to the default value
Informational Warning#
The Informational Warning is located at the top of the tab and describes the requirements for the folder that can be used to store profiles.
Do not place the profiles folder in the directory where Afina is installed or where any application data is stored. This may lead to conflicts and data loss.
Current Path Field#
The Current Path Field displays the directory currently used to store profiles. The field shows the full path in disk and directory format, for example, C:\Users\...\profiles.
The field is read-only: the path cannot be changed directly inside it. To update the value, use the folder selection icon to the right of the field.
Folder Selection Icon#
The Folder Selection Icon is located to the right of the current path field and is used to change the profile storage directory through the standard system selection dialog.
How to change the path for profiles:
- Click the Folder Selection icon to the right of the path field.
- In the system dialog, select the required directory and confirm the selection.
- Make sure the updated path is displayed in the field.
- Click Save changes at the bottom of the page.
After saving, Afina restarts and applies the new path. After the restart, enter the master password and click Confirm to return to the workspace.
If you click Cancel in the system dialog, the current path value remains unchanged.
Reset Button#
The Reset Button reverts the path for profiles to the default value. The action is performed only after confirmation in the “Reset path for profiles” modal window.
How to reset the path to the default value:
- Click Reset on the “Path for profiles” tab.
- In the “Reset path for profiles” modal window, read the confirmation message.
- Click Confirm to apply the reset.
After confirmation, Afina restarts and sets the default path. If you click Cancel in the modal window, the current path remains unchanged.
After resetting the path, Afina restarts automatically. Save all unfinished actions before performing this operation.
Save changes Button#
The Save changes Button is located at the bottom right of the settings page and applies all configuration changes, including the new path for profiles.
Changes take effect only after clicking this button. If the window is closed without saving, the selected path will not be applied.
The Save changes button is shared across the entire “Afina Core Settings” page. Clicking it saves all changes made on any tab during the current session.
Workflow Scenario#
Step 1: Open Settings
Click the gear icon in the top right corner and select “Afina Core Settings”. The settings window will open.
Step 2: Go to the tab
In the top tab row, select “Path for profiles”. The current path and controls will be displayed in the workspace.
Step 3: Select a new folder
Click the Folder Selection icon to the right of the path field. In the system dialog, select the required directory and confirm the selection.
Step 4: Save changes
Click Save changes at the bottom of the page. Afina will restart and apply the new path.
Step 5: Confirm entry
After the restart, enter the master password and click Confirm to return to the workspace with the updated profiles path.
